timeframe largely depends on how quickly the police verification is
completed.
2. Is police verification done before issuing a Tatkaal passport?
No, under the Tatkaal processing scheme, the passport is printed and
dispatched first. The police verification takes place subsequently
(Post-Police Verification). A Tatkaal passport is typically
delivered within 3 to 7 working days.
3. Why is a 10th-grade mark sheet required (Non-ECR)?
Providing your 10th-grade passing certificate proves your
eligibility for the 'Non-ECR' (Emigration Check Not Required)
category. This status ensures you do not have to obtain special
emigration clearance before traveling to certain countries for
employment.
4. Can I apply for a passport if I reside in a rented house?

recent passport-size photographs to the visiting officer. Sometimes,
the police may also request the identity documents of two

rejected?
No, the application fee paid online is entirely non-refundable under
any circumstances. If your application is put on hold due to missing
documents, you can fulfill the requirements within a stipulated
timeframe without paying the fee again.

To renew an expired passport, you need to apply under the "Re-issue
of Passport" category on the portal. The entire process mirrors that
of a fresh application. You must also carry your old passport, which
